Default When did the Swiss begin Luger manufacture?

Kenyon apparently contradicts himself in "Lugers at Random". He states, "Switzerland...began to manufacture Luger pistols about 1924" (p. 211); but only one page later states, "...when production...began is not known, but the 1918-1922 era is most likely" (Id., p. 212). I know a lot of info has come to light since 1969, his initial publication date, and I don't have a copy of the Swiss Luger book. So, I'm curious; what's the latest info about when the Swiss began Luger manufacture at Bern? Thanks, guys. Ad.

Default Re: When did the Swiss begin Luger manufacture?

According to Fred Datig in "The Swiss Variation 1897-1947" on page 49, the first delivery of wholly Swiss made Lugers to the Swiss army was in Nov 1918 beginning at serial 15216. I have spare new copies of this book available @$15 post paid.
