recently found commercial Luger
I was asking my father about a pistol he inherited from his father (thought it would be a good alternative to buying new home defense gun). It turns out the pistol is a commercial p08. It has the model number 5255, plus a script M. All the parts match, but it only has 1 clip. I asked him to describe the markings, he tells me that it only has the N with a crown (which I understand means it is a commercial).
Can anyone give me info on the serial #? I looked into buying a book, but finding the right book seems to be as difficult as finding out about the different types of Lugers. thanks, Dustin |

Dustin,
Sounds like it is a DWM Alphabet commercial, assuming it has a DWM toggle and is 30cal. S#5255m was made early 1924. The magazine should have an unmarked or GERMANY stamped wood bottom (most were unmarked).
