Lol, it was posted on another forum. But, but, it is all matching says the seller, well, except the grips. What is it exactly?

I wonder if the seller would be willing to trade for a minty NIB water pistol from odd lots?

Looks like a refinished Luger with some barrel weight attachment and target grips.
What am I missing?

On Jan’s forum a new member had a number of larger photos

Since we told him it was pot metal, hopefully he isn’t the one selling...

We need to preserve this for our descendants.

Whatever it is, it has proof marks in the right place. The ejector looks strawed. The sideplate has a number stamped on it. The flat spring behind the sear has a lip on it, like a real Luger. The magazine release has a flat spring under it.

The safety lever is strange. Checkered, not serrated. And cylindrical, not flat. I don't see a spring behind the trigger.

Lots of detail. If I had to guess, I'd say an MGC Modelgun from the 60's. They were very realistic, and functioned exactly like a real Luger, even to loading and ejecting fake cartridges, which contained a primer and a powder charge but only produced a flash, smoke, and a bang. The barrel was blocked so a real cartridge wouldn't fire. And the firing pin was in the chamber, and the primer was in the middle of the 'cartridge'.

I haven't read the thread on Still's forum. Does anyone have the link???

Very interesting to say-the-least! I looked at MGS guns and couldn't find an exact match. The front sight/weight is weird.

The item has been deactivated by the seller, no one can contact him.

I think it is an old attempt at a target luger.

I am the proud new owner of this pistol. The seller traded it at our guns shop, and I initially though it was a fake...

But, to clear some things up:

It has the right markings, best as I can tell.

It shoots. And it shoots great.

PLEASE, let me know what info and pictures you guys need... I'd love to get this thing identified, fake or not.

Note: we took it on a trade, and at the trade value, we thought even if it was a fake, it was worth it. My feelings aren't going to be hurt; I just want to know what I have. Still a cool piece!

Start your own thread with good pictures and ask any questions there. Otherwise we will get confused really quickly.

Thanks,

Just thought I'd try here first, since it's the exact pistol in the original post.

Some forums are funny about new threads.

I will post some good pics in a new one, though!

The grips look like a stoned woodworker's wet dream, but from the shape of them and if your hand is the right size, probably feels pretty comfortable. The fat girl you don't want to be seen with scenario....

The finish looks like parkerizing... As for the block under the barrel, I am guessing some kind of counterweight (again, imagined by the aforementioned stoned woodworker).
