Repro holster

Hey Guys. While searching for a unique gift for my dad I came across a holster sold by an online vender that was advertising a Tank Commander Luger holster. The strap goes around the neck and loops on the holster attach it to the waist belt. I bought this not necessarily for authenticity purposes but rather functionality. He likes to bring the Luger on outings and usually brings the original holster to accompany it. My idea is for him to leave the original holster in hiding to protect it and use this one as a beater. After I received it I was rather impressed and tried to find pictures of originals, if indeed they exist. I'm interested in any info you guys can offer. Thanks

Scott..There is no original of this design that I know of.. not military issue. Certainly a good method of carry for an outing.

Agree with Jerry. Looks like a good carry holster for the money. Shoulder holsters have had a lot of discussion. We know that none were ever officially produced but some may have been privately purchased and used. Bill

Thank you guys for quick responses. The waffen stamp is really good. I bet we will see a flood of these in the future being passed off as "original". Again thanks for the input and I highly recommend this holster for carrying Lugers to the range or in the woods. Seems to be really well made with heavy stitching.

This appears to be a pretty well constructed piece. If the photos are typical of what they sell, the stitching is quite straight and even. The Asian repros are sloppily assembled compared to this. It would be good if the stitching is cotton thread.

Cotton thread is fuzzy and used for clothing..It's not good for leather and was never used.
Linen thread was the thread used on original holsters..it is very smooth and not at all like cotton.

Jerry, the statement about cotton was made in my former state of partial ignorance in this realm. What I did know is that we do not want to see nylon or Kevlar stitching. Thanks for the info on how to spot original linen stitching! Polymer stitching is discovered by heat from a match or little Bic, in which case it will melt?
