Default I'm boycotting Cabelas

There's a thread on the P.38 forum started by a member who posted a Luger and P.38 for sale to finance a hunting trip.

He is a Cabelas employee and purchased the pistols at Cabelas over 6 months ago at an employee's discount.

Cabelas is now threating him with dismissal, because they monitor (stalk) the collectors forums looking for employees reselling guns that they have purchased.

This is way over the line in my opinion. I've been a Cabelas customer since the 70's, not anymore.

I didn't wait to boycott Cabela's...When I was looking for a Luger shooter on GB, Cabela's in Green Bay Wisconsin had several posted...I emailed the Cabela's manager/seller about getting it sent here in NY if I won an auction (I bid on 3 or 4)...He said no problem; and no charge for shipping it to my local Cabela's store (in-company transfer), no sales tax if I paid by CC (different state), and no FFL receiver's fee......Well, my local store manager said that was wrong; there would be a $75 FFL receiving fee + 8 1/4% state/local sales tax, and a $25 shipping fee...Thank you; good by!

In an entirely unrelated event, I stopped to look at Buck knives in the Cutlery Department one day last Summer...The Cutlery sales person was very annoyed with my questions...and kept directing me to the clam-pack Bucks on a tree a ways off, rather than the Custom Shop specials in his glass case...Thank you; good by!

So, thanks for nothing, Cabelas!!!

(This is the Tonawanda NY store, just on the outskirts of Buffalo NY).

Ron,
for me its not a mater of Cabelas overstepping their authority, its a question of what the rules are when an employee purchases a gun and did the employee agree to the rules at the time.

I think we are only getting half of the story from the employee.
