Luger Holster
I have acquired an old luger Holster marked Geco on the back. It is numbered 422949. The colour is black leather and the flap is held closed by a metal stud thru' a button hole. Can anyone tell me something about it's origin etc?

Peter you don't say what size it is. Are there and photo's available? Just a WAG, but I'd say Walther PP size gun.

Could very well be a commerical holster converted to police use, as I have two just like you discribed, but a 6 diget number throws me off. Are there and other stampings on the back and how is the 6 diget number stamped? thanks

Peter C, In the 422xxx serial number range, this holster could be for a Sauer 38H (check inside the flap to see if it might be lightly ink stamped "Sauer 7.65"), a CZ27 or even a 1914 Mauser. TH

The holster is the same size as a normal Luger holster, but is more moulded not stitched to a flat piece of leather like my repro one is.It fits my P08 1913 dated 4" pistol nicely although as the magazine holder is rounded at the bottom, the magazine protrudes 1/2" from it. The name Geco is marked in the form of a large "G" with the eco in the G. Looking at the back of the holster, the numbers are on the top right hand corner under the rear of the flap and commencing at the right hand (rear) belt loop. I will take photos soon. Hope these extra details help. Peter C.

Peter C, Your Geco holster sounds very much like those used by the post WW2 W.German Police. I have had example that were made for the FNHP, Astra M600, Star B (which fits your S/N range) and yes even the luger. Most of these usually sell in the $35 to $50 range. TH

Hi TH, Thanks for your info. I will still take a photo of the holster and the P08 I own ( the only one) for the site. It is in very nice order and I think it was a 1st World war trophy. My usual interest is Big Game rifles!!!

I have one in excellent condition made for the HP and serial numbered on the back. IIRC, I paid $20 for it 6 or 7 years ago in Florida. A nicely made holster and worth what I paid.... easily.
