1936 Mauser Luger
I've been interested in a Luger for some time, but have not been in a big hurry to grab the first one I see. I came across one locally. Its marked as a '36 Mauser 9mm, but is nickle plated(not original?). I did not have time to examine it as I was on my lunch break. I there anything I should watch out for, before I consider purchasing this weapon?

Hi Steven,
Welcome to the forum. A nickle plated luger has no collector value. It would be purely a shooter and value would be lower than a mismatched original. You haven't stated the asking price, but not worth more than an average of $400. These are considered gunshow queens and usually come with a BS story about being an officers presentation pistol or as belonging to Himmler or some, "I once saw a chicken with lips" hocum. IMO, I would save my money. There are better ones to have. Good Luck! Ron

Thanks for the info. I kinda suspected as much. They were asking $750.00 for it, which seemed low if this were a "special" gun.

Ed, at $250, that a really good buy if it's not a wreck. I'll take em at that price too.
