Your magazine is of post-WWII East German manufacture. After the war the Haenel plant was taken over by the Russians and renamed the "Veb Ernst Thalmann Werk". This type of mag was made there until the late 50s. One source says that the 2/1001 stamping represents: 1001 = police, 2 = contract with the Kasernieten Polizei, which later evolved into the Volspolitzei, or Vopo. It is a quality magazine and which, no doubt, will acquire some collector value as time progresses.

The numbers on the bottom, assuming the E Germans followed the WWII practice, would indicate: 1= #1 mag, 2379 = serial # of the pistol it was issued to.

th,

The East German magazines that I have seen and used are very good. They seem to always work, and are tough. I guess they will have collectro value since they came from E. Germany.

You did very well buying these for $10 even years ago,

Marvin
