Portuguese Oilers...
Moving the discussion away from a WTS ad location to a discussion section...
I submit the following photos of a "repro" oiler I bought at the Ren giun show a couple of years ago for $ 55 or $ 60 if I remember correctly. As a note, the rod DOES NOT unscrew...from the oiler body. The vertical pattern of grooved lines on the oiler cup cap is why I think this one is a "repro". |

speaking of old lists, I remember reading of repro tools and oilers being sold 40 years ago. They get that look of "age" when that old...

The top two look to be all steel which is correct for a Portuguese GNR and would be stamped on the end of the oiler top, KK/10 in circle and 5 in circle. All three rods are smaller in diameter than the top portion where they are connected. I don't think this is correct. The GNR rod I had, and the commercial rod I have, both are perfectly smooth at the joint.

Is there any difference between the length of the M2 cleaning rod/oiler and the cleaning rod for the M910 navy?
I have read the various postsâ??thank you, but as I look at the examples it isnâ??t clear if the M2 is longer than the navy. Ron, did say in one post they came in differnt lengths. Also were cleaning rods issued with the late Mauser made Navyâ??s? If so what did they look like? Thanks Vern |

These came in an old A.E. marked holster that I got several years ago, I'm pretty sure they are authentic. The rod part is 7" long from the bottom of the oiler to the end of the rod.
