1906 American Eagle barrel markings
I have seen several 1906 American Eagles in 7.65mm and there are different stampings on each of them. My question to anyone who owns one or has a reference to one: What, exactly, is stamped on the barrel? I have seen proofs, serial number, land sizes, and acceptance marks. Not all have been standard. It is my belief that some might not have been original. Can anyone give me a good reference to location and size of known factory stamps on a 1906 American Eagle 7.65mm made by DWM for commercial import into the US? Thanks. Bill

Re: 1906 American Eagle barrel markings
Bill, I own a 1904, A.E., see page 100 of Kenyons book. It is a correct weapon. On the underside of the barrel, just in front of the frame appears a 5 digit serial (491xx) and the N with a crown on top as seen in figure #4 on page 38 of Kenyons book. There are no other markings on the barrel. The cailber is 7.65,(30cal). Hope this is of a help to you, .....Schwob
