Re: Big Norms Red 9 Grips
Hugh, those are quite amazing and you sent me a larger, clearer picture that is really stunning! These should would look good on an Arty! Hope you keep the pattern so you can make more of these. Perhaps the pictures would suffice. If anybody wouldlike to see a clearer picture I would be glad to forward the nice one I have of these really stunning grips. Good job buddy! Thor

Re: Big Norms Red 9 Grips
Looks pretty good. Now I have to put them on my chamber dated 1914 DWM arty and see what it looks like all together. Then I have to figure out how to use the digital camera that I got in the promotional startup with Earthlink so that I can maybe get it all on the forums monthly Luger of the Month. I have to study the Owners Gallery for just the right background. Right now I wish I had Thors Nikon Loopix 950 for a real good picture with really good detail.
A-H-H fame! It hurts so good. Big Norm |

Norm, I recommend solid contrasting color backgrounds
and use natural light when possible... overcast days make the best photos of guns so there is no glare from the sunshine and minimal shadowing...

Re: Norm, I recommend solid contrasting color backgrounds
John,
Thanks for the info. The camera I got is a cheapo and I don't know how to use it yet. I've been doing a lot of hunting lately and have not studied it yet. I like the pictures of HÃ?Â¥kans guns with the medium grey background. The photography of the artillery Luger in the American Handgunner magazine is also excellent. Thors and your closeups of markings on the forum have great detail. I often look at the restrawing of the Locking Bolt by Thor and the photography tells me that he does good work. Its a part that is difficult to prep right. The photography of guns just seems to be a natural outcropping of Luger collecting. Big Norm |

Norm...I use a Kodak DC 4800
and it is easy to use... they just take some practice.
Lighting and composition is everything after focus... Just take your 'cheapo" camera and take a whole series of the same shot from different angles, distances, and lighting and record what you did for each shot... When you dump them to your PC an study them, then you will know what works and what doesn't... I am looking forward to seeing some more of your collection (in digital format) -John |

Re: Norm...I use a Kodak DC 4800
My cheapo camera is a cute little thing that has a clear case to show the inner workings. It looks like it has a flash on/off switch and a timer. But I don't think that it will do for Lugers. Around the lens it says 3 feet to infinity. I will need to get closer than that for showing a Luger. The name is Digtal DSCPro 640X480 with 2 MB. The price was right - free. So I can't complain. It'll be ok for casual picture taking.
I liked the pictures that Thor took on his Nikon. I will have to check out the prices. I'll need a color printer too. ARG! They didn't enclose any batteries. Need 4 AAA and all I got is AA. You guys will have to wait longer before I can give you a mug shot. Big Norm |
