Default A Pair of Wuerttembergers

Two 1908 First Issue militaries unit marked to the Grenadier Regiment 123 machine gun company. The serial numbers are seventy-five numbers apart and the company issue numbers are only three numbers apart.

Grenadier Regiment was established in 1813. In 1914 it was garrisoned in the city of Ulm and part of the Wuerttembergisches Infantrie Division 27. The division served the entire war on the western front where it saw action in Lorraine, Argonne, Ypres the Somme, Cambrai and Artoise. The division as a whole and the 123rd in particular suffered significant losses in combat in 1916, 1917 and 1918. The US War Department rated the 27th Division as a "First Class shock unit".

Thumbs up

George, I can't think of anyone that does as good of job on Luger themed composition photography as you. Beautiful artwork.
