All the elements look period. I just wonder if this is for some other piece of kit and not for the Trommel.

There is a lot of reproduction stuff being made in and around Germany at the moment, so be careful. Ageing something like this isn't exactly rocket science.

It looks suspicious to me. The stitching is wrong, especially the way the leather straps are stitched to the canvas.

Could you elaborate on the stitching? What do you see wrong with it?
This stitching looks exactly like how the leather straps are done on an original MP40 mag pouch I own. Granted, my pouch is WW2, but certainly was made according to certain goverment specs. |

I must correct my earlier remark and agree with Daniel. It looks correct except for the stitching. The straps should be secured with box stitching with one diagonal line through the box. I attach photos of two of mine.

Because of the stiches I think that the egun is a fake (99%). The backside photo would help.
The stiches on the leather parts are not ok. George, you are showing nice examples. I wonder a bit because of the loops of this one without the buttons. Regards Klaus |
