Did you start with an old, excellent holster and just trimmed it down to fit the Baby...??? Looks like fine, old leather...in excellent condition...

Any interest in making up a new Swiss holster...???

A classical work of art, Jerry.Is it just a coincidence that you chose to fashion this holster in the WW2 style, instead of the WW1, or is it technically easier?

Thanks all! There are only two parts on this I did not make here in my shopfrom new leather.
The roller buckle and the closure stud for the interior tool pouch. I find the holster looks better if I use original parts for these two items.
Herb, I use the WW2 style for the same reason the Germans did, it's easier and better. I actually prefer the Police model myself but Tom wanted an Army.
Pete, I make the Baby holster because no one else on the Planet makes one and I get enough money to make it worthwhile. To actually end up with a nice holster like this is incredibly time consuming. I have to work on it in between all the other holster repair.
I am just finishing a belt carry double mag pouch for two baby Luger magazines. Should be pretty neat!
Art Buchanan and Tom Armstrong teamed up to provide me with a baby magazine for fitting. I want to thank them both for their help! I will put a photo of it on when I get it finished.
The main reason I don't make holsters that are currently available is economic. If they can be aquired for a reasonable price on the open market I cannot make one for less. Sorry Pete!

Another of Jerry's fine works. A 2nd issue Navy holster that I aquired from him in a trade. Anyone would be hard pressed to distinguish it from an original piece.

Nobody makes or repairs them better than Jerry.

Your Navy leather is nice...but would not fool the educated nose...

The Cabal guys have taught me to cram my nose into a holster and to expect old navy leather to smell old, and have varing over-tones and subtleties of grease, diesel fuel, cigarette smoke and maybe even a hint of some BO (body odor) smells. Sort of like approaching a glass of wine...

Hard to add those to modern-day leather holster...

Pete, I make every concievable leather item for German Lugers but not one is meant to decieve. These are made to the closest tolerances and in many ways are exactly like the German Saddlers made them. I use linen thread and hand hammer on the various steel or brass studs. Each piece is hand made with the interest of the advanced collector in mind. For those who are not satisfied with what is available on the mass market, it is a reasonable alternative. I cannot suggest another craftsman on this Planet who will, or can, make a Baby Luger holster from scratch. There might be one but I have yet to hear of him.
I agree it is wise to use the smell test to determine authenticity. It is certainly a valid one. Ever more as time goes on, it behooves the collector to use whatever telltale signs there are to determine age of an artifact. Smell is just one of many I use.

Hard to add those to modern-day leather holster...I have never tried to do this but I suspect it would not be all that difficult. A small smoker with a pan of the ingredients you are interested in infusing on a hotplate and about 24 hours.....If there is a way and enough money involved you can bet it could be done.

In a couple of year when my Swiss luger collection is filled out (based on my acquisition plan), I will try to commission a Swiss Baby in the M1900 style and I would certainly want you to craft the Baby Swiss holster to go along with it.
