Talking Luger Display boards

If anyone is interested, I have redone my Luger display boards to include the holsters.
The first display board is 1910 to 1942 Military Lugers

The second display board is of Naval Lugers, Artillery and contract Lugers (a few)

I hope they might be of interest. All but one were purchased in New Zealand.

Kindest regards

Murray

I am much too dignified to be envious, so I think I'll just go eat worms. Marvelous collection.

Thanks Guys,
I think my favourits would be the 1911 cased Erfurt, (not shown) The Persian Contract and my 1939 Mauser banner Police. I do not have a police issue holster however.
This collection has taken about 3 years to get to this stage. I did have a even better collection but in 1992 I was forced to sell it by our Inland Revenue Department, (same as your IRS)for a debt I did not owe. In 1999/2000 after a 10 year battle including two Parlimentary Select Committe hearings (same as a Senate Committe) and a Police investigation, I received a public apology on prime time television and compensation from our Government, so I have started my Luger collection again. I am coming to your fine shores on the 3rd December for the SAR show in Pheniox and hope to see some of you kind folk and buy you all a beer (or two).
Best wishes.

Hello Murray,

Yes, WOW, WOW, WOW from me too! This is a very nice collection and a great display. One question; I noticed the cards you have by each rig, is this a photo of the pistol and a description? I have been thinking about making some type information card for my Lugers and show at local gun shows. One of the requirements is that an information card be displayed with each piece. Can you let us know what you have on your cards?

Marvin

Hello Marvin,
The display cards I did on my computer. An example is shown below which is for my 1939 Mauser Banner.

The eagle in red I scanned of the front of Jan C Still's wonderful book (hope you don't mind Jan)
and I inserted it into a text box in MS WORD and then did another text box below with description, then printed it onto glossy paper, glued it to a hard cardboard back, trimmed it all to size and then mounted beside the guns.
Below is an Imperial period one for my 1911 Erfurt
which is a close up.

I trust this will be of some help

Brandon,
Ed likes his with tabasco. I prefer mine with a good Merlot and perhaps a dash of Arby's horsey sauce. I'm sure your tastes are much more refined, but you are welcome to join us. <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Guys
You dont need to eat worms, why don't y'all come on down under here, view the Lugers, stay a while and have some of our white bait fritters with some New Zealand Merlot, the best in the world. And by the way, white bait look just like worms except that they have eyes, that look at you when you eat them, but boy! are they scrummy, especially with Tabasco!
Regards,

This is all very nice, and most touching. Now, I'd like to know whether and when Lugers Down Under can be persuaded to sell one of those nifty artillery rigs. You see, given the choice between eating worms every time I look at those photos and raiding the piggy bank, I'd rather do the latter.

My gut tells me, however, to prepare for worms in a piquant sauce, for he ain't selling anytime soon. If the truth be told, I doubt I could part with a one of those beauties.

Excuse me, while I check on a new recipe for worm chateaubriand.....

Hello Lugers down under,
The one Luger that you mention as getting outside New Zealand, would have been the 1939 E/F #340W would it, from Jack McCarl in AZ? I know Jack well and I'm just going from memory but I seem to remember that gun and serial number and the fact that it had a #3 HS matching magazine.
Am I correct or is my memory fading rather quickly? Nice display. Sincerely, Bill Munis

Yes Bill, You are correct.
It did come from Capt. Jack McCarl. He helped me get my original collection valued in 1999/2000 as part of our compensation package from the IRD (IRS).He mentioned that he might have a Luger or two so we said, well, why don't we go to Arizona and buy one. So we did and wow! did we have some fun, Jack flew my wife Jan and I. all over the state. Took us to visit Ralph Shattuck (I thought I had died and gone to Luger heaven!) Saw some amazing collections and had a great time.
I had an e-mail from him yesterday, he will be at the SAR show week after next so I have arranged to meet him and Barry at the show. They are doing a SMG display together and Jack says he is going for Gold! I wounder if I will get a prize for 12 hour non stop flight just to go to a gun show.
You have a good memory Bill,
Kind regards
Murray.

Absolutely astounding!!!!

I just have one question about your laws.
What are they in regards to owning a handgun? I had heard of Australia's terrible gun laws, I guess New Zealand is a little more accepting then to guns??

Thanks....

Thanks for the enquiry on New Zealand gun law.
Firstly we are not part of Austrailia and have a relation ship some what similar to that of the USA and Canada.
Our gun laws require any one who wants to own or deal in any type of gun (excluding air guns) to be licenced (class A).
This licence is for the person, not the gun. It weeds out those whom we all aggree should not own a fire arm.
Rifles and shot gun are not each licenced but revolvers, pistols, SMG's and machine guns are. To go pistol shooting you need a B licence and you need to be a member of a pistol club.
To own SMG's and MG's you need a C licence or collectors licence and you can own anything. Transfers between collectors can take a little as 5 minutes but usually as long as it takes you to go pick up the gun and cost nothing. One needs a "permit to procure" for a transfer or purchase and the Police issue them on demarned and on sight of your C licence.
To own assult rifles such as M16 and AK47 (in semi auto) you need a E licence and the gun must be registered. This came about due to public demarned. Assult rifles were used here extensivly for helicoptor deer recovery in our mountain country, but now the guys (and girls) just leap out of the choppers and catch them alive. (I jest not!)
To own a SLR , M16, AK47 etc in full auto you need a C or collectors licence. I have A,B,C,D, and E. The D is a gun dealers licence.

With regard to the Dutch Luger, I have one Vickers marked (Toggle)with grip safety made for the East Indies contract. It is not an excellent finish but is all matching (barrel frame toggle).
Most of the Guns that went to the East Indies were later arsenal reworked as this one is.
I saw another at a gunshow here very recently which was also Vickers and very good condition but had a dated receiver and mis matched barrel.
Best wishes.
