Post DLH Markings on a 1940 Luger

I'm asking the question for a friend, and have not seen the Luger in question. It is a 1940 with the 42 code. The front of the trigger guard has the letters DLH. I was not able to determine if the pistol had waffenamts or is commercially marked. Any help would be appreciated.

Joseph, it is unlikly that the DLH is a military or police marking, but an exact description of it, to include periods size, etc, would be helpful. More helpful would be copious pictures.

Further and much more detailed information is needed to help.
