Hi Lonnie! And thanks for the tip,....but, I need to find stocks that are broken, cut, or mostly unusable, to make it cost effective for me......I just need the butt part of the stock.....so...the most I can spend for a decent one is about $7 to $10 bucks!! GT it would seem that you could use any wood that was on Mauser made Rifles especially the older ones and not only the 98K. Just a thought has it would open selection more.

Hi Tracy! Right at the moment, I'm not to picky!! I have used several earlier Mauser stocks and have had good results...but for some reason, the nicest ones were the early K98k WW2 vintage...there certainly was a lot of varity of color in the bunch that I had!
