Noob question on loading the magazine

I bought an artillery shooter with an aftermarket magazine that I'm only able to load about 6 rounds in before the spring gets too hard for me to compress with a tool. I've heard mention of a tool in multiple posts on here but no explanation how it is supposed to be used.

I thought the slider on the magazine would provide enough leverage to load the magazine fully. Does it really require a tool?

Sorry for the noob question, but the only magazines I've needed a tool for up til now were hi-caps.

I always load by hand, but the luger magazine requires some leverage for many folks and use a loading tool (the screw driver) you see. Also, depends on the repro mags, some are just not made as well others. Mecgars are good (although I don't know if that means it can hold 7 or 8?), as are real mags made for the luger.

One trick a lot of folks use with a new magazine is to load as many rounds as they can and then set it aside for a few days. After a while the spring will loosen up and then you can load the entire mag.

H, I don't know why most of you insist of trying to cram that 8th round into your luger mags, when they usually work better with only 7. I do stock new 3K mags starting at $20 + $6 S&H and new MecGars or wood bottomed 3K @$35. hellerarms@webtv.net PS: If you are trying to load the 32 round snail drum, it's helps to wind the lever to the 32 marked position and lock it down before attempting to load. Also a $650 loading tool, is a big help. TH

there are also simple plastic loaders for Luger mags avaialble for around $3, I forgot where I got mine from

but I found them on the internet
