Tom,
Welcome to the forum... A cautionary note: It's not a good idea to post your physical address. We have lurkers just looking for a trail to follow. Ron

1939 Dated ???
Tom,
Just curious...was it confirmed this HK had the "1939" chamber date ??? Or did the small parts just have "39" stamped to indicate the 2 last digits of the gun's serial number ??? |

Thanks, Tom...
So it was an S-code... As folks may have told you, a 1939-dated HK would be quite rare if authentic...most folks do not believe such were made. |

Pete, for what it is worth, Mike Krause has seen two 1939 dated HK's over his 40 year plus collecting tenure. He also tells me that Randall Gibson owns one as well and now is a "believer".

Hey Doc and Pete,
I've only heard about two others (Mr. Gibson's and another noted collector's son). I wasn't aware of Mr. Krause's sightings, however. Personally - I'd really like to see one first hand, before passing judgment (sort of like the SPANDAU mystery for HK's ) My thanks for sharing that information! John D. |
