Question Mauser 42 1940 Magazine

Hi, to All. I have just bought a 42 1940 luger and it has a matching magazine (so it seems) because it a strange magazine, which I never seen like it, and I believe that even that the numbers are matching to the pistol it is not the right mag for this gun, it is extruded, blued, zig zag spring and there is also the numbers 2/1001 at the bottom above the aluminum bottom there are no marks except the number and a no2 on the bottom. Any help to identify this mag will be appreciated.

Sounds like your wartime Luger have mated with a post war DDR Haenel magazine. Perhaps a police.. pictures would help.

Definately postwar DDR mags, although I've never seen one with a raised portion at top of bottom, like this one. If these are matched to the gun, perhaps it too has been reworked. Any strange markings or C/N unnumbered replacement barrel? TH

Doc. I agree 100% with you that it is a DDr Mag, and I also never seen one like it that is why I asked about it.
The barrel seems that it not replace, the markingsd are Eagle proof mark, Eagle n, Eagle 355/6 last number is not clear it is 5 or 6 and stamped Kal 9mmP with a 2 w on top each other with 2 wavy lines on top of that.

The mag bottom looks like it has been ground down and a new number punched in to match your gun.. and then mated with a DDR mag shell.

Not as interesting as the female variations.. but would be interesting to know what type of mag that has a bottom like that?

The P08 is looks nice, LP08 is elegant ..the carabine even looks sexy! But the day i'm more interested in mag bottoms than a well shaped living type, I will be selling out my collection

A military officer once told me, 'learn to love your rifle, give it a female name and care for it every day, just be sure not to have anything in the chamber when slamming it shut'

Wish you all a nice weekend,
obviously, I'm just blabbering in lack of usefull things to say now

AM, I'm not framiliar with the import making requirement of Malta, but here in the US, the importers name, country of origin and caliber are required on new imports. The E/655 proofing on your barrel lead me to belive the it is original to the gun, but barrel may also be importer marked to meet some regulation of your country. TH

TH. In my country, since we are in the EU there is no need to have the gun proofed, as long it is imported from an EU country. As a matter of fact I imported the gun myself from Germany and I believe that the gun is all original except for the mag that I have never seen like it on any Luger.
Maybe someday we will find out from were it came
AM.
