Any Luger guys in Fl

Hello all, I have a Luger I inherited from my grand father and I would like someone to go through it but I do not want to send it out to somewhere. I would like to just take it to someone in person, I'm in Tampa Florida, Anyone in Florida or know of someone good in Florida?

You might get lucky in this way. It is general consensus that even most gunsmiths are inadequately versed more often than not, and I'd think local gun shows would be as much, or more, of a crap-shoot.

Field stripping is a basic skill you should have, and it would expose the parts needed for examination for cracks or broken parts. Check YouTube for several demonstrations.

A series of nice, crispy photos of the gun would be an excellent start while you're waiting for a recommendation or volunteer. Many experienced eyes could have a look, ask and answer questions, etc. There's a sticky or two in the new collectors' section with info and advice about what to photograph, and how to get good shots.

I second Ithacaartist's comments. Yes there good YouTube videos on taking Lugers apart, and yes there is a wealth of knowledge on this site and the other Luger site. But, in my opinion taking the time to learn about Lugers is a big part of the fun of owning one and the main reason for studying up on them.

To new Luger owners I recommend spend a few enjoyable hours looking at YouTube videos, browsing the forums. Then perhaps invest in an inexpensive magnifying hood and a set of dummy rounds (snap caps) so you can inspect all the parts for cracks or damage and verify the pistol is operating correctly.

I do live in Naples, Florida. I'm not aware of anybody with serious expertise north of my area.

Hello Pbizzle, Nice to know another member is close by. I'm in Land O Lakes, about 10 miles north of Tampa close to 54/41 if you're familiar with the area. The wealth of knowledge found on this board is hands down the best available anywhere. If you're able to upload hi res pictures the guys here on the forum will provide you an honest opinion and do thier best to assist you. If you need help with disassembly I'd be happy to help, just PM me. By the way, Lugerlier really isn't a word, just popped in somehow.
