Arty stock s/n
Does the number stamped in stock match all (4) digits of the gun OR is it only the last 3 digits. Does it also include the suffix? Thanks.

I looked around on the site and it seems that it matches all 4 digits plus suffix (looked at the stock exchange thread)

Grappa,
yes, the artillery stock would need the entire serial number and suffix. I am going to catch it for my next statement though. I would not accept a military artillary stock as original unless it also had a proof mark ON THE WOOD either. Authentic commercial stocks for Lugers of that period had neither the serial number or the proof mark. There, you have to look at the wood, its stain and its finish. Then you cross your fingers.
