Default Anyone ever seen this marking before?

This is from the inside of a 1920's Luger middle Toggle.

Anyone ever seen a Circle AK before?

Ed

Hi Ed,
I saw this one on Gunboards.com / Jan Still's Luger Pistols. It was part of a posting by LugerLou in regards to his Simson & Co. Suhl Luger S/N 8660.
Regards,
Mike

Out of all the ones I have seen, there are two? I am guessing a sub-contractor...

Probably the reason I remembered it was because of how close his serial number (8660) was to mine (8699).

I expected to see the "circle AK" when I stripped mine down. The 6 was there but no "circle AK".

I have the same mark in a Simson luger.

Ed,
Just checked all of my DWM 1920s , 1921s and BKIW. No "AK", but I think I found Herman G¶erings prom date's phone number.

My gut feeling is that we'll just find it on Simson's, but I am curious if it is on any Krieghoffs, as Kriegs were made in the same town.

Good one Ron. Sometimes the inspector marking in this area can be several digits &/or letters. I do not believe that the circled AK is an inspector's marking. Rather, some later modification or rebarrel of the luger. This may have been done on the underside of the manufacture's logo to free them from any further liability, under the laws of whatever country this was done in. (eg. Spain by Alkartasuna? as this was the same way that the French maked AKs Rubies in WW1).
