Talking Found it

Some time ago the subject of Singer .45's came up and I mentioned that I had read somewhere years ago of a US Army unit maybe selling of it's surplus .45's to soldiers, and that it included Singers.

I copped a bit of flack for that, all those who know more about it than I do poined out that the US Army never sold off surplus firearms to it's soldiers.
I was cleaning out the shed today and I find the article.

"Guns and Ammo October 1992 Page 26
I am an MP in the U.S. Army, and currently my unit is converting from M1911A1s to the M92FS. The unit is cinsidering selling the M1911A1's to the soldiers who carried them for as low as $150 apiece. My question is, some of these pistols have the name Singer, Remington-Rand and Ithaca stamped on the slides. Since I have never seen these names on an M1911A1 before, could thse pistols be collector's items and worth some money?

I think those who hung it on me owe me a beer, should we meet. On a serious note, Singers on issue in 1992, bloody amazing

Should you find yourself in southern California this coming April, I have all the 1911's, HP's, P08's,P38, M1 & M1A's and what ever you may chose to shoot, with all the ammo one could want...and our NRA dinner event will also be in April.....not only would we be honored, but would be enriched from you point of view on gun bans.....

If you are going to be in southern Oregon, stop buy. I have got lots of ammo you can shoot up. And maybe a pint or 2

Couldn't agree more TAC. I lost all my Handguns to our "Buy-Back" in 2003.
