50$ shipping... A bit high to ship something that weighs less than 3 pounds?
That is one way of getting some extra money, Ed

Pete,
Don't cry for an Old Soldiers Ruined Weapon. This is the absolute end for which they were designed. Cry for the Old Soldier from whose hand it fell. He was Expendable and was probably Wasted in a Futile Battle, The weapon was even more expendable than was Its Carrier Who Sleeps Nearby, Finally Free From Fear. Sleep in Peace Old Soldier ! Too bad that the seller doesn't know much about what he is talking about... if this pistol is functional except for the fact that the barrel has been welded and the nipple (firing pin?)has been removed... it is STILL A FIREARM in the U.S. All it needs is a barrel replacement and a Nipple... some springs and some grips and a lot of lubrication... refinishing is optional...
Don't bid unless you intend to pay all the importer fees on this one... the seller says he intends to ship it as "parts" but if the new Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (the new name for U.S. Customs under the Department of Homeland Security) catches it in transit it will be confiscated... and you will be out all fees AND the gun... Caveat Emptor... it ain't worth the risk. You overseas Lugerforum members may have the advantage here if you can get this gun into your country... Good Luck... it may go for cheap.

For the most part, importing single items is just not worth the trouble. On another site, a GI was agonizing over his efforts to bring back a Russian Mosin-Nagant rifle from Afghanistan. He is having fun with the military, his commander, the BATF and customs. He was getting a lot of "help", mostly from folks who know less than he does about importing firearms.
Finally some people pointed out the obvious: he is sweating blood over a rifle that can be bought here for under $100 at any gun show with no risk of unintentionally violating the law or military regulations. Jim |
