Default Whatch ya think of this one?

Here's what looks like a decent shooter-grade although it has matching numbers except for the mag and "Swiss-style" grips and a loose safety. (I took everyone's advice and looked for a Mauser-made, from the 30's, as matching as possible, not dipped or stripped, and I'll still be nervous as hell shooting a gun like this....)

Price seems within reason for all I can find most anywhere at the present time....I checked my LGSs and no joy at them and my main LGS doesn't have one and isn't anticipating getting one any time soon. We don't have a lot of decent gun shows in the Seattle area so that's probably not a good bet.

I'd love to hear opinions on this.....I'm trying to learn but boy, the syllabus is strenuous.

thanks in advance.

I'f you'd be nervous, don't buy it.

A better one can be had for fewer $$. JMHO.

Someone started a thread a week or two ago, something like:
"Lugers are everywhere!"; there will be another.

You'd be petrified shooting my 1864 Remington New Model Army - almost twice as old. Shoots great.

I've got two police Lugers with matching magazines that I'm selling for $1400 each.

Being nervous doesn't mean I wouldn't shoot it....just means that until I get through the first magazine without a problem I'll be trying to shoot and pray a rosary at the same time...hope the beads don't get tangled up in the toggle.

I've got mil-surp rifles a lot older than 1938....my Swedish Mauser, Gew 88 Commission Rifle, Gew 98 dated 1917, couple of Swiss Schmidt Rubins, Finn Mosins, P14 Enfield, etc. and I shoot them with complete confidence. But then they aren't worth nearly as much as a Luger. I guess I just recognize the value of the gun and that it may not be as robust as a Mosin or Mauser rifle.

I'm not sure where the apparent "common" knowledge of the luger being weak comes from.
It is not, but then it is not as heavy as a Mosin or Mauser rifle either.
