Take out a second mortgage. A correct 4 inch Persian rig is very scarce, much more so than the 8 inch artillery variation. I would guess, as you have described the rig (and if it is correct and original), you could start out around $4000 and go up or down from there.

Steward
in his ten year old book 'Luger Tips', Reese lists the four inch AND the 8 inch for $5000-7,000 in mint to VG ORIGINAL condition. But, as Ron said, the four inch Persian is rarer.

Stewart,

A very nice condition Persian Luger pistol with the various accessories. It makes me cry when I see sets like this one! Does this set belong to you or a friend? Just out of curiosity, how was it obtained and what is the story behind it?

If I had to give an estimate, I would say around $6,000 or whatever somebody is willing to pay you. Are both magazines matching or just one? Is the holster marked? How much for the box of ammunition?!! I would not mind having the ammunition for my Artillery Persian.

Cheers,
Albert

If everything is matching and the finish is legit, this is a $6K rig easily.

Stewart, A fascinating and rare rig indeed...I am intrigued by the holster. Can you possibly show some photo's of the backside? Thanks, Jerry Burney

Stewart, can you give us more information. Obviously an entire rig like this is very rare, how did you come about getting it?

Edward,

I came across this rig about 9 years ago, I was in a antique shop in N.C. and the gentleman who owned the shop new I liked nice lugers! So he asked if I was interested and I could not believe when he pulled it out and showed me!!!! Every thing was together in a cardboard box plus an additional 50+ rounds of farsi ammo!

I think that this beautiful Luger illustrates a problem with rare, true collector pieces. There is no way that you can put a price on it. Its very nature of being a complete rarity in original condition makes comparision pricing impossible.

It also illustrates the fun of collecting. You just never know when or where a treasure will pop up. Sometimes its just plain dumb luck. Nice going Steward.
