VoPo Values

What's an all matching VoPo going for these days? All matching original parts 1916 DWM that has only been dipped and marked with a couple C/N's C/U's and a vopo stamp and with bullseye grips. Mag is non matching 2/1001. No import stamps. Finish is probably 90%.

IMHO more than a shooter but less than a WW1 or Weimar

I would say $1000-$1200 max?

I would say that the above is maximum with 2 matching VOPO mags, a new C/n VOPO barrel and no Xed out renumbered parts. TH

Geography plays a big part in values. In my area, $1200 - $1500, gun show purchase high end.

Last year, this unissued VoPo rework showed up at my LGS.

Complete, in box with tool and two VoPo magazines (one FXO and the other a 2/1001 East German).

It's a 1921 and was unit marked. I wanted a representative VoPo, and this one fit the bill! This one was OTD for less than $1k.

They are wanting $995 for the one that I am looking at, then I will have to pay the sate sales tax of 8.025% on top of that which brings it just under 1100.

Ben, I notice yours has the EG replacement td lever that was numbered to match. I like it!

The VoPo/RC Lugers were arsenal refurbished with parts that met specs by mostly captured armorers. $995 is not out of the question, IMHO.

Also here VoPo Lugers are not rare at all, the one I enclose a picture of was a WWII Russian capture then used by VoPo.
Its value is about US 1,400.00

There are Vopos and there are Vopos. I usually select them on a rarity factor. There are many refurbished standard military P08's, mostly Mausers and DWMs. The more interesting guns have their East German markings intact, perhaps a few crown/U inspection proofs, and an interesting blend of history. Some remarkable variations I noticed: A crossed rifles VoPo, a first issue DWM VoPo, Marcs 1921 Reichswehr VoPo, VoPos with newly made DDR parts, etc...

The most interesting (and expensive) variation is the newly made batch of about 150 pistols, made around 1953. These have been selling in the 2000-range.

I agree, in fact I wouldn't either, but unfortunately here prices seem to be higher than in the States, as an example the artilery Luger (rechambered! 9x21 IMI) would cost the equivalent of USD 3080.00 and a Colt Government dtd 1967 about USD 2800.00

Common variation of P.38 is definitely cheaper in the US. This ac44, sold just a few minutes ago, $550, add BP $649, adding shipping, should still below $700... much cheaper than Italy.

Unfortunately here there is not enough competition, as gunshops that sell decent collectible guns are very few.

Sergio, There must be thousands of war souvenirs in people's homes in Italy that have never been declared.

If you come across a pistol in someone's home, can you then register it and make it legal, after converting the caliber?

Just watched another Flatside sale. This variation is scarce, but quite a few shows up recently. $3750, plus BP is $4425, plus shipping.. about $4500.

Yes in theory you can, apart from the fact that you've got to report it to the Police to whom you'll have to explain how, when, if, ect. ect.
In some cases I'm sure many people have done what my grandfather did with an old WWI relic of a revolver: he took it apart.
