Question Erfurt 1917 sear bar

Why I can't remove a life catridge from the chamber with the safety on,when my sear bar is of the late type? Any help please?

A litle more context in your activity would be helpful.

The Luger action cannot be cycled when the firing pin is decocked -and- the safety is on. This is the most likely explanation for your question. The larger problem is, how has your Luger come to be in this condition with a live round in the chamber?, and implies a possible problem with your gun.

Hi,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I think that you are right 100% (because I tried it) as you said while the gun is de cocked and the safety is on it could not be done but once it was cocked then I was ale to open the gun with the safety on.
About the live round actually it was a dummy to try the action.Thank you again, you were great help.
