Here in northwest Ohio it’s -10 and a wind chill of -40. I think everyone is just huddled in today. Would be a great day to sit down and do any gun cleaning/maintenance if necessary.

There are occasional days when posting is very "light", folks are just busy living I suppose.

Well, I wasn't going to mention it...But the new York State Legislature has been busy...Here's an abstract from my senator...

Today, we also passed a major package of gun control legislation. Some of you may remember that last year, after the mass shooting in Las Vegas, I bought a bump stock off the internet. I wanted to know how easy it was to get your hands on one in New York. It turned out to be shockingly easy.
Not anymore. We banned them today.
Here’s what else we passed:
  • Extreme Risk Protection Orders: S.2451 allowing law enforcement officials, family and household members and certain school officials to seek a court order requiring a person likely to harm themselves or others to relinquish any firearms in their possession.
  • Effective Background Check Act: S.2374 establishing an extension of time up to thirty calendar days for national instate background checks.
  • Preventing School Districts from Allowing Teachers to be Armed: S.101A preventing K-12 schools from authorizing anyone other than a security officer, school resource officer, or law enforcement officer to carry a firearm on school grounds.
  • Gun Buy Backs: S.2449 directing the State Police to devise regulations for gun buyback programs so that all buyback programs across the state are operated consistently with uniform best practices.
  • Out of State Mental Health Records: S.2438 requiring out-of-state applicants for gun permits to allow New York permitting authorities to review out-of-state mental health records.

Looks as if NY is back near the top in the race with California, New Jersey, and Massachusetts to turn itself into a People’s Democratic Republic. Really starting to wonder which state will have its first reckoning with the new SCOTUS on all these blatantly unconstitutional measures (both 2nd and 4th amendment violations being legislated here)

10 above in Fairbanks, Alaska. Clearing off and cooling down though. Should be 15 to 20 below the next couple of nights. Makes for beautiful days. This is south of us about 120 miles or so.

Unhappy

The new Democratic governor of IL and Democratic majority in the legislature wasted no time in adding to Illinois's grow gun regulations. They upped the legal age to 21 years old and extended the wait time for long guns from one to three days. Then they passed a gun and ammo dealer state licensing law with accompanying bureaucracy and regulations that is sure to close many mom and pop gun shops and drive prices up. Next they are going after magazine capacity. It never seems to end.

Oh, and it was -9* today. Tomorrow should be warmer.

All sound like good reasons to be moving to Kentucky.

And not to get to political, but sadly, it seems as of yesterday, Virginia is giving all of the aforementioned a run for their money.

And don't bring up the Pro-choice issues in Virginia either... as far as the temperature here goes, politically it is pretty hot... weather wise, it was one, I say again, one (1) degree F. when I left the house to go to work this morning. (shivvvver!)

Haven't mentioned it here but I bought a new Ruger SR1911 2 weeks ago. I can't believe I haven't shot it yet but I am really excited to do so. Heard and read all good things about this pistol.

What caliber is yours? I bought an SRC 1911 in 9mm about 2 years ago and it is fantastic. It’s actually what I carry year round. Has functioned flawlessly straight out of the box.
