Default Purchase advise

Looking at this 1936 dated Luger, any advise on what to look for any your opinions on value

Nothing jumps out at me as "wrong". Check the bore, and if it matters to you ask how it shoots. In that condition with one matching mag, no holster or spare stuff, probably worth a bit over $1500; anything over $2k and you'll have to own it for a long time before you see any blue sky.
What is the asking price?

Looks nice. I'd pay $1750 tops. Nothing more.

We’re around the $1500 area as working out a possible trade, what’s your opinion on the overall condition?

Condition comes off as not bad, but not great. I think you're in the right neighborhood for a collectible in this shape. Since you won't get hurt at that level, you can always trade up later, if you wish.

Since it has a matching mag, $1500 is a fine price. The wear pattern on the barrel is not from normal use - looks like something was spilled on it... You should be able to sell it for $1600-1700 when you get tired of it.
