WWI Russian warships Sevastopol
For those with a general interest in WWI: here's a photo from a German photo album compiled by a member of the Royal Saxon Infantry Regiment No. 182 which fought in the Ukraine and afterwards was part of the occupation force. It shows several Russian warships in port of Sevastopol; large warship at wharf is the former Russian dreadnought Imperator Aleksandr III which was one of the modern dreadnoughts assigned to the Black Sea Fleet. It was renamed the Wolya after being surrendered to the Germans after signing of the Peace Treaty of Breast-Litovsk in 1918.

This ship had a very interesting and long carreer, with her guns serving as shore batteries well into WWII.
Thanks for sharing. Douglas. |
