Default Grip Markings

Can someone please explain to me how a set of grips are marked? Are the left and right grips marked with the last 2 numbers as other parts are? Are there proof marks? I am mainly refering to Third Reich era pistols. Thanks

Yes and no...
As I recall, the Mausers generally had the last 2 numbers inside the grip panel, each side. Also it seems like there is usually one other marking, probably inspector's stamp. But here is where it gets fuzzy. I'm pretty certain that some of the later wooden grips were not marked. And the plastic grips are not numbered. And occasionally along the line we see other grips lacking thye usual markings. And the inspector's mark? Not always.
So I guess that the answer is yes they should be marked, but no they are not always.
But let's wait for the more experienced guys to weigh in.
And Merry Christmas to all!
