The rarest Erfurt luger is dated 1910. It was first described in AUTO MAG and is somewhat controversal. Only two are known.

Does anyone know who is lucky enough to own the 1910 Erfurt, nowdays ?

Do any photos exist that are available to the public ? In a book ? Would appreciate the chance to see any photos...

Heard it was bought for $ 100 originally and then offers over $ 3000 popped up, amongst serious collectors...

As far as I know, the rarest Erfurt Luger (4" barrel) is serial #1 which is in the Pattern Room Collection in the UK. I have examined this pistol in my hands, I have a photo of this pistol in my album and I shall post it here when I return to the US. I believe that the chamber date is 1910.

The image was too difficult for my old eyes to see so I adjusted the lightness, gamma, and saturation. Now I can admire it better!

That really wasn't necessary, and there can't be more than one of these. Someone should put this poor thing out of its misery, like in RVN, we had to destroy the village to save it form the bad guys.

Hello Terry and Albert,

I was not aware of two (2) 1910 Erfurts, as Jan has educated us to the fact. Thank you, Jan.

If one 1910 is in England, I heard the 2nd. 1910 surfaced in the USA in one of our southern states.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of the 2nd. 1910 Erfurt?

Pete
Both 1910 Erfurts are in the USA. I have an article (previously presented in AUTO MAG) that I would be glad to post on the Forum. It covers both 1910 Erfurt Lugers and is complete with detailed photographs. I would have to send the hard copy for someone else to post, 4 pages. Let me know if interested.

Erfurt sn 1 is in the Imperial War Museum (Pattern Room?)and has been reported by several collectors as being dated 1911 not 1910.

Wes, what does your photograph of the Luger with the garish grips have to do with the subject under discussion.

Hello Jan,

1. I have sent you a private e-mail with my address. If you would send the article, I can scan and get it posted on the Forum. Do you know if I would need to get NAPCA permission before I post it ? I am a NAPCA member, as of April of this year...

2. I think I am the one that got the two messages going on the same posting. The original posting was titled "The Rarest Luger" (tongue in cheek, I think) and referred to that luger with the black colorful grips; and then I mistakenly started a thread inside a thread about trying to find out if a 1910 Erfurt is real (and assumingly very rare...).

Jan,
Check the post that started this thread. There is a link (the word Erfurt) to this Luger picture that is up on an auction. You will see that several of the posts refer to this picture. I was puzzled over several of the posts until I figured out that several persons were posting about the title of the thread, "The Rarest Erfurt"

I enjoyed both lines of this thread and saw no reason to interrupt.
