Default Situation in Germany

Lifted from facebook:

Mas Unci shared a link.

In Germany we will soon get a new gun law that will heavily limited legal gun owners and in ridiculous ways. Fir example you must go shoot 18 times per year with every gun you own but not allowed to shoot more then 2 per day...most ranges are 70-100km away and are open once .. maximum twice a week.
So with 10 guns you need to go shooting 90 days per year...and lead Ammunition will be Forbidden...
No more then 20round mags for pistols...so our Drum mags for the 08 makes us become criminals..

The german rifle association made a petition on openpetition.com against the new weapon law. We got nearly 170.000 voices and 40.000 were necessary so it get accepted by our Parlament (the law say a petition can be in any form)
The government declined that petition and made its own on our government page... you can only open that on a pc with Internetexplorer...from mobile or when you use chrome, Mozilla, opera it shows and error loading that site...and the site is most of the time down...i registered already 5 times, never got an email back that my account (that you need to sign the petition) is activated....
Our politicians try with all dirty tricks to steal our guns!!!

Maybe some of you can register as well and help us signing this now "official" petition.

Yes, Germany's gun control laws are very strict and burdensome. I am not up on their current regulations, but you have to be licensed/permitted to have/purchase firearms/ammunition, the firearms have to be locked up when at your residence and unloaded with ammunition separated. So even though you have your registered firearm, you cant keep it loaded and ready for use in your home. Because they have no Second Amendment! In Germany you are only allowed to have firearms to hunt, target shoot or collect. Not for defense of your home. Looks like they are trying to get rid of the collector portion. Of course the main focus of the new law is to just make it more and more difficult for law abiding gun owners, so they will give up their license or curtail the amount of firearms they possess. The exception is German Police Officers who can take their duty gun home. In the past it was common practice that most police officers would leave their duty guns locked up at their work station and not carry off duty or at home. I spoke with some German Police Officers a couple years ago and was told things have changed and more officers are carrying off duty and taking their duty guns home. They said the change was due to the elevation of Terrorism and increased threat from all the 3rd world refugees being brought into Germany. Any of you members in Europe please correct me if I am wrong or if you have more details regarding ownership in Germany/Europe.

I am unsure if the 2nd amendment is as strong as some folks think - since so many of our rights have been taken away (my god, I sound like a political rantist)
