Satisfactory '02 Carbine

All,

Pleased to report that the '02 carbine I purchased came through a thorough and detailed inspection via loupe, OTT light et al with flying colors. It is 100% right in every detail, down to the wear patterns on the SN die fonts. The old gal needs (And will get) a thorough bore scrub.

And yes, I think I will take it hunting.

Hello Tom,

I am glad to hear that you are satisfied with your '02 Carbine which you recently purchased. If you are going to take it 'hunting', won't you need a carbine scabbard to carry the gun to the field?

I just wanted to tease you a little with reference to an earlier post regarding Luger Carbine scabbards. This scabbard which I bought last year in Germany is of the European style made of pigskin. It is also equipped with its carrying strap, carbine cleaning rod and loading tool. I would venture to say that this scabbard is probably the finest one known to exist.

I think you got the deal of a lifetime on the '02 carbine...that gun was on their web site at that price for nearly 1 year...I think everyone, including me, thought it must have been a refinish at that price...

Would you be willing to let our friend Jerry Burney make a pattern from your scabbard? If so, I can carry the piece when I go afield.

And Pete, Photos are often disinformation, particularly when not taken in the corect light. I have had more bad deals with pics than good ones.

Now, I gotta find the right rod and all the other stuff to go with this neat piece.

Hello Tom,

I would be willing to have our friend Jerry make you a pattern of my scabbard when I bring it to the US, but you will need to be patient for about six months. I plan to eventually send the scabbard to Jerry for a very minor stitching repair on the seam of the flap behind the cleaning rod compartment; the seam has split and lifted which I would like to have professionally mended.

I do not know if you regret selling your last Luger carbine with a carrying case and various accessories. Sometimes it hurts to go through the 'grinding mill' to replace an item which you previously sold from your collection. On the other hand, you might enjoy the challenge to find or build another complete carbine rig. You might be disappointed to learn that I sold the carbine cleaning which I bought from you to Russ when I acquired my scabbard which was equipped with a cleaning rod; I did not need three carbine cleaning rods in my collection, but two is good pair! If I find another one, I shall gladly inform you. Let me know what other 'stuff' you need for your the Luger carbine.

Thanks for your generous offer.

I am going to have to build the entire rig (less gun&stock) so I am looking for everything.

The guys at Phoenix Investment Arms have an A&F case for sale but they want $3K for it, which seems greviously overpriced.

So, I shall haunt the auction sites and gun shows. Eventually it will all turn up.

Any news on the mirror?

I believe I know where the accoutrement are to be found. They're in Pensacola and come with the pistol and stock. At least one bottle of whiskey will be needed to get the set.

Just an FYI, the inbox is one thing, it also counts the replies you send and also tracking, so you have to go in and delete those puppies too

The in-box constipation thing is a mystery. This week my in-box was full with 2 messages. Have no clue what/ how to manage in-out box crapola.

Tom A. - Go to you Profile and get to you PM box. Use the pull downs to get to your "Sent" messages and delete all the ones you don't need anymore... the "system" counts all the messages in your total allowed... The Sent box is probably full... and also the Message Tracking folder probably needs to be cleaned out...
