Default Breach stuck open on loaded mag

Hello,

I have an 08 and 2 (old ) magazines.
To me both of them look the same, but ... .

One is working fine.
If I load the other, I am not able to close the breach.
From my point of view there seems to be a problem with this magazine.
What could be the problem with this mag?

Best regards,
Martin

Remove the upper receiver, insert each magazine and look as how high it pushes the hold open and extends up above the frame.

Look at the shapes of the feed lips, and see if one has had them bent up and open.

What does the breech block hang up on? is it the rear of the magazine?

More info please!

What does "load" mean?
Insert into the pistol empty or with 8 rounds?

Do you lock open the toggle with the hold open, then insert the magazine?

Try them empty and report, please.

Some magazines will not feed with 8 rounds in them, but only 7.

Try with fewer rounds in the problem mag and see if the situation changes. Start with 1 round and work up.

Sorry for not being clear here.
"Load" means inserting 1 or up to 5 cartridges into the empty magazine and then inserting this magazine into the open Luger.
Then I can close the breach only on the "good" magazine.
With the other inserted I am not able to close the breach.

If either magazine is inserted empty and then the breach is opened it will stay open with both magazines. It will also stay open when the good magazine is used and the last round of it is fired (as intended).

Best regards,
Martin

OK, I will check and come back with the results.
But this will take a few day, as I have currently no access to the old lady.
Best regards,
Martin

I would inspect that holdopen very carefully if I were you. They break you know? In fact it's the numbered part I've seen break more often.

Edit. I shoot Lugers in competitions where slmost only Lugers are allowed (the only other option is the 1907 Savage).

Will the bolt close on each empty magazine?
You will have to depress the follower with a stick or something
to test this.
