Default WWII War Museum Overloon, Netherlands

Hi all!

Finally visited this wonderful and newly renovated museum in the south of the Netherlands (we live half an hour from there) to find a wealth of WWII vehicles of all kinds, a B25 Mitchell bomber and a selection of very well simulated battle scenes with uniforms, equipment and... many firearms.

Some of you know that some of the heaviest fighting took place near Overloon, in September 1944... we take walks in the woods near Arcen, and we have found anti-tank spikes jutting from the ground on the sides of the walking paths... I can only begin to imagine what that was like. The Dutch have always been grateful for the Americans and the part played by the US in the war.

Next week going to Bastogne in south Belgium... there is a very well done re-enactment of the Battle of the Bulge there. I hope they have handgun displays... we'll see!

A few photos for you....

Just out of curiosity.
What is a Russian tank doing there?

This museum has American, Dutch, US and Russian vehicles and equipment - where or how they were acquired I have no idea. The facility is dedicated to an accurate rendition of WWII as a whole, rather than the Battle of Overloon only. Films, photos, etc etc are all there to be seen and appreciated. Good question
