Dumb question

I've just been checking my guns out, getting ready to take the kids shooting tomorrow. Noticed a couple of big differences in between my two Lugers. The DWM has a slight step in the chamber, the mauser chamber does not. Both pistols are 9mm.Both are lugers. Also The mauser has a couple of bumps, or raised areas on the back gripframe /lower receiver. The DWM doesn't. Hadn't noticed these things before. What's the deal?

see the thread under P-08 Military entitled "Mauser Hump" you have to have your selection set for over "100 days" to view and find this topic. A more pronounced frame feature to better hold in the rear axle pin. or better yet see http://forums.lugerforum.com/lugerfo...c&f=2&t=000016

I just happened to have a 1939 Mauser Banner torn down, and it definitely has the step in the chamber. Look closer as I believe it should have the step unless it was possibly dropped on the late Mausers. If I remember correctly, the step is 14mm into the chamber.

Tore both Lugers down, also have browning hi-power scatterd on the table. Definite step in 1920 DWM chamber, no step in 42 mauser chamber. Just as smooth as the hi-power. Could be a replacment barrel, as it's clean as near new. The barrel has same # as left side of reciever. Also a tiny eagle on swastika on right side, and a tiny eagle over135 on the upper left side. Eagles are smaller versions of right receiver marks.
