No markings on barrel
Hello,
I have come across a Luger 1939 42 all matching numbers, but the barrel has no numbers or markings. I tried to find the answer to my question online, but I cannot. So, does the absence of the ID number and markings mean the barrel was changed at some point? Thank you Ric |

Welcome Ric.
Yes, it quite likely means the barrel was replaced. A picture would be a help.

If the barrel was replaced by a German WWll armorer their replacement barrels had inspection stamp on it. The replacement barrel I had had a faint stamp on it that was a eagle over three numbers.

Thank you
Hello,
Thank you both for the quick answers. No markings at all on the barrel, so I assume it is a post WWII replacement. Many thanks |

Yes,
Your barrel has been changed. That should not create any problem if done correctly.

The front sight looks like a Finnish sight.

Ric, welcome to the forum.
If you're considering buying this you will want to verify that it fires and cycles properly and that the trigger linkage is properly fitted. This would be considered a shooter, and should be priced accordingly. $750 or so would be reasonable if all else is correct. If you're interested in studying Lugers more, we have a very useful FAQ PDF document available. Just follow the FAQ links at the top of every forum page. Marc
