Default Spreewerk (cyq) P.38

I have a Spreewerk (cyq) P.38 with a stamp "B 31" on the right barrel flat. Would anyone know the purpose of such a stamp in that location? Below are photos of the pistol and its holster.

Looks like a Russian capture with crossed rifles.

They are not "crossed rifles" but a couple scratch marks on the slide.
