Default Odd extractor and chipped breech block.

Hi guys.

Got me a new P08 that has been heavily pimped by Håkan Spuhr back in the days, very nice looking but currently suffering from mismatched parts added some time later.

The Breech block is missing a chip where the extractor has banged up after climbing over too many cartridge rims.
I have noted that the extracor was riding at least a mm above the top of the breech hence figuring it is mismatched too.

When I pulled it apart i found this strange extractor sitting there (closest to the chipped breech). I have never seen one with a ring before, the pin is slightly bent. On the underside are the letters CV followed by a swiss cross. Any ideas wheen/where this was used?

The upper extractor is a comparison taken from my other DWM 1917.

The gun has severe ejection problems, basically every shot has to be cycled manually.
I will try dropping in the DWM extractor to see if it works better, it seems to fit the breech an awful lot better that the strange one.

Håkan Spuhr used to be a member here... From Sweden as I recall...

but I think he got out of the custom Luger business more than a decade ago... He had some really interesting ideas on building Custom Target Luger pistols... much like Herr Herbe Werle still does in Germany...

If I am not mistaken (and I could be) the lower extractor is from a Mauser Interarms Luger.

I don't know much about it but it might be a Swiss extractor? If it were for a Mauser Interarms Luger would it have Geladen on it?

The top extractor appears to be a Mauser. DWM made the pin hook very dainty and I am sure it became a faulty design beefed up by Mauser and further so in the Swiss example below.

Correct John, I've been on the look for a Spuhr or Werle for a while when I found this one going for a pretty nice price. When I noticed the sorry mess of mismatched parts I had a chat with Håkan about it. It certainly did not leave his shop in that shape.
Turns out that the sellers late father had used m49B ammunition (surplus submachinegun ammo) and blown a few parts, replacing them on his own.
So now it is a Renovation Project of mine.

It looks very nice though.

I swapped in the DWM extractor and spring and the gun started ejecting properly.
It was fussy with my downloaded ammo I used for the daintier DWM but when I fed it european factory ammo it got a lot happier.

Last day at the range the rear sight pin broke.
The rear toggle is a mess with stress fractures anyhow so I am looking for a new solution for a rear sight. Thinking about slapping on a marine rear toggle, if I can get my hands on one. They are not cheap..
