Nazi Luger P08 (72) with Case
I've just inherited a Nazi-era Lugar with case, tool, 2 clips.
The gun appears to be in extremely good condition. I've taken a few close-up images of serial numbers and markings. My goal is to sell this gun on behalf of my father. Thanks, Chuck Last edited by LugerChuck; 03-15-2011 at 10:40 PM. |

Save the moderators the trouble of telling you, and get a price up. And a lot more pictures as what you have posted only begs further pictures.
Thanks; dju |

Price
Thanks for your message...this is only my 2nd post and I don't know the value of the Luger or what it should resale for.
The gun has been in my family for 50 years and now my dad is ready to sell and I've taken the gun in my possession. I've attached a few more pics. |

All Lugers with a 42 code toggle should be all salt blued. This Luger shows strawed small parts. It is either mismatched, reblued or both. You can ask for values on the forum, but not offers.

Values
Thanks for your message. What do you believe the range of values might be for this Luger?

It depends on if all numbers match, which includes intrenal parts. I love the look of the stawed parts, but it isn't correct if it has 39, 40, or 41 date over the chamber. My guestimate is $700 - $900 as a shooter price.

Thanks Mike. If there are other pictures you believe should be posted, I'll do that in the next day or so. Chuck

I forgot about the holster... it might be worth $200-$250.

Chuck, this is not an auction site, I have moved this to the new collector area until you have a firm price.
You need full pictures of both sides, whether it fully matches (read the FAQ) for those parts, full shot of the top and serial number. And since it has P08 on the left, it is likely reblued, values stated above is correct. However, include pictures of the magazines (clips) one side of each, the button side and the bases. An extra tool and mag can add a couple of hundred dollars. I don't believe holsters have as much value as they did 2 yrs ago, so unless in really nice shape, $185-$250 IMHO / and thats if it has not been modified / cut down, then half that.... Ed

I think it's a very nice looking Luger. If it was reblued, there doesn't seem to be over buffing. I like the straw coloring. Adds a little contrast.

Look at the lack of sharpness in the outer scalops at the chamber area. Most definetly a reblue

A very nice looking shooter to be sure. $1000 with the holster and mags. seems fair.

Is the magazine correct? I would have anticipated an aluminum based magazine.

Magazines
Yes there are two magazines and they are of a very light gauge metal, perhaps aluminum.
Both have wooden "pulls" but one of them was marked over with a light pigment as if to keep the two separate from one another visually. One more thing is interesting...many pictures of Lugers I've seen have a date stamp on top of the chamber near the barrel. This gun has the number "41" and then other numbers (72, 42) appear in along the top of the gun. No date per say. I'll try to finish up my photography later tonight. Chuck |

41 is the date... 1941. The 42 on the toggle is a code for Mauser. 72 is the last two digits of the serial#, also found on other parts of the gun if all matching.

Thanks Mike. As far as I can tell all parts on the exterior of the gun are matching (72).

Well, I took some more photographs tonight but the color balance seems off a bit.
Please note that I have not polished or prepared this gun in any way, only photographed it as it was given to me this week to sell. As I pulled out the extra magazine, some fungus was growing on one side of the clip. This was the clip in the holster.) I choose NOT to clean it but instead to allow the new owner to do so. It is a surface mold only. Thanks again for everyone's interest and comments. I appreciate this forum greatly for its enthusiast members.
