Default Help on finding info on P08

Hello.

I am trying to help my Dad out here. He picked up 2 Lugers last year. A 9mm and a 30. He has decided he needs to part with one and has is going to keep the 9mm version.

I Found the FAQ and got as much of the information for the identication form as I could. I still haven't been able to figure out a date or value.

I am looking for any information on this Luger and a fair value for it (private party sale).

Any help would be appericated.. Also, if I could be pointed in the right direction so I can do this myself (if that is possible) I'd like to find as much information on the 9mm version too (value is less important for that one).

If I need to get a better/closer picture of something just let me know..

Thanks,
Sam

This is exactly the variation that I have, so I recognize this one. Some people call it "Weimar Alphabet", some people call it "DWM Model 1923". From picture, the gun looks good except the magazine. The correct magazine is supposed having walnut bottom. The value is hard to tell.... I saw people selling this variation at $800 nowadays. Personally, I decided to keep mine, because with $800, this is the only Luger variation that I can buy back from market with that amount, so I did not bother. Of course, if no plan to buy a gun using the money, then, $800 is $800.

Your .30 Luger caliber DWM Alphabet Luger is from about 1924. These are not valued as highly as military Lugers, and there were quite a large number imported into the USA in the mid to late 1920s.

I bought one in similar condition, all matching, with an original magazine three years ago for $675. I imagine values are up some now, but your after market magazine knocks the price down about $100.

There should be clear "halos" around the serial number digits stamped into the barrel.

It looks to be in pretty good original finish condition. If all the numbered parts match on yours ("67" or "1467") you should be able to realize $750 or more in a direct sale.
