Sweethert grips
I recently bought a Luger with sweetheart grips.
I have read about them on this forum. The available information says they were typically made by GIs putting a picture of their wife or girlfriend under plexiglass. Were there instances of Germans doing that or was it not permitted by German Army regs. Also -- did only officers carry Luger pistols? Thanks, George |

No, it was not permitted by the germans
Lots of enlisted and NCO's carried lugers and p38s

A bit off-topic, not related to 'carry' pistols...but...
I recall reading somewhere that it was traditional for a German mother to give her son a small handgun when he went off to war...As a 'last resort' defense...Carried concealed... I'm pretty sure in was in the NRA Firearms Assembly Handbook, one of those little tidbits thrown in with the history & disassembly instructions...I don't recall which handgun it was in, but it did mention that was one reason why there were so many different pocket automatic manufacturers...
