That's pretty clean to be seeing a little bit of pitting on the front of the trigger guard. Got to love how almost every picture just so happens to be a bit blurry. I know picture taking can be an art to it, but come on.

I'm curious what is stamped underneath the proof marks on the side of the receiver. Looks like it spells out something? Hmm!

Doug, serial number placement for a 1910 follows the commercial pattern. It doesn't adopt the military pattern until into 1911.

Doug, the seller claims to be a big-time coin dealer. He might want to stick to that. He states that the pistol is not import marked. Sure looks like "GERMANY" stamped beneath the acceptance stamps. Also, marking is under the bluing indicating a complete reblue.

The magazine is correct but just as fresh as the bluing but best of all is the serial number on the frame...what letter block is it?

Good lord, someone bought an "i-suffix" 1910 for two grand?!!! Now were is the deed to that swampland I have been trying to sell as beachfront property?...I have got to get it back on the market while the gullibility index is so high.

Ron, the i suffix brings up the question...what the hell is or was the frame? There were no slick-back model DWMs or Erfurts issued in the i block.

George, it almost has to be a 1920 Commercial, possibly part of a special order? Can't explain the lack of a stock lug unless it was requested by the purchaser. With the GESICHERT in the upper position it isn't a converted grip safety frame.

I believe the apparent "i" suffix in the blurry photo is an aberration, that the dot of the "i" is a speck of something, and the suffix is really a "b" which, with serial 5199 would be in the correct range for 1910. My evidence is photo #16 which clearly shows an added hold open and proof mark. Since the hold open became incorporated in 1913, and the "i" block did not make its debut until 1915, it is technically impossible to have an "i" block frame with an added hold open (not to mention the lack of a stock lug).

That is a valid observation and it certainly would explain the anomalies noted. You have a good eye, spotting the added hold open and proof mark. I do not think the dot in the letter suffix is a speck of something but could be a combination of the blurred image and the glare of some of the portions of the stamped letter. I am open to consider that it might be a "b". I wish we had a better photo to go by, which could clear up the mystery and justify the selling price!
