The first mistake you made was telling the police ANYTHING,the Police in many states will arrest first and ask questions later. At least thar's the way the Police worked in CA.I had to leave California for reasons unrelated to her Stupid gun laws, which by the way did not require a permit t o own any handgun. But i'm in Texas, the weather is worse than in sunny Southern Cakifornia. But the air is freer here than in California.

Terry that really sucks.

But they raided your house for a 'unregistered' luger?

How did they know, i.e. someone 'tip' them off?

I did not know that Maryland had registration laws that stringent...

There is a word missing. I think Terry is saying that he is lucky that they DID NOT shoot his dogs.

That is a fear I have, that when cops bust into a gang-banger or drug home is to possibly shoot the dogs. Not that I fear the police, as I have a law enforcement background, but being accused of something can get you into trouble. And if a 'gun' is mentioned, the cops take it very seriously (as they should), but when fairly innocent people are charged, its a different story for those involved.

Well,,,,, in the movie "Schindler's List", we saw German using stethoscopes to find hiding Jews. It's Hitler to blame, but I have to say the order executing men had lots of energy.

This case should show each and every one of us that we are all threatened by the anti gun mob mentality that is being hyped by our own news media. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Terry
This is a scary piece of news. Really sorry to hear about it.
I found this excerpt from a MD shooting forum that pertains to your situation.

http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=62671

It looks like you are not the only one getting incorrect info from MSP.
Quite possibly, the first trooper you talked to took notes and since the push is now on to "DO SOMETHING" about illegal guns, you where chosen!
God Bless!
Bob

I guess the lesson here is to not answer any questions w/o your legal representation.

The law can be it's own worst enemy at times. They must not have much to do in Maryland.

Hi:

I lived in Maryland for 30 years but moved away in 1985, before the socialists took over there.

You won't be getting your guns back, the Court will not award you any damages and you will be lucky not to be fined.

Since registration equals confiscation, they just confiscated your firearms early!

Good luck and consider moving to Virginia.

Do we know what state has the most lax laws. I just got my navy/artillery and because I have a Florida concealed license permit, it took only one phone call to the feds and all went fine! Eric

Terry:
Please keep us informed as this nightmare unfolds.
Best of luck. It's not a situation I'd want to find myself in.

Terry:
Also, sometime if you could, would you put everything in story/paragraph form, include times, dates, places, names, etc. I'd like to post it on different forums, send it around, etc. Certainly gives new life to the old phrase, Jackbooted Thugs. And having everything documented may help you in the years ahead if this thing doesn't go away quickly.
Seems to me that the gov't is taking advantage of the anti-gun hysteria. We saw the same thing in the Clinton years.

Hi Terry, I don't mean to cast doubt on your story, but before David circulates it, it's important to be sure that it's factual and unexaggerated. Were there really 20 Tactical Police? Were they really "jack booted and hooded"? Did they, in fact, "kick in your door, and trash your home"? I'm sure the first thing your attorney told you, was to take photos of the damage, can you produce these photos?
Regards, Norm

Terry, God bless you Brother. What a nightmare. I shall never understand how folks can allow those laws to be passed. Maybe for us here in Maine in the future..far distant I pray. I told my wife of your ordeal this AM at breakfast, she is mortified that this happens in her adopted country. She was born in Germany in 1944 and knows, remembers what happens to an unarmed populace. She is a member of NRA and a CCW holder. We can give you cover Brother if you ever want to move North...just do not do it in a nor'easter. Best to you, Vince

Ok, as someone who knows how this goes, quit talking about it; don't pass the story along; don't listen to the negatives because every case is different, I mean, why would you believe someone on the forum (no offense) over your own lawyer?

Write down everything while it is fresh, remember who you talked to and what dates and times.
