Default '39 banner police on GB, opinions?

I've looked it over, and think it seems OK. What do you think?

Hi!

Seems to be a well used Mauser Police Luger.

Condition, except bore, seems ok.

I read German, but i don't know what "ERIGANT" means.

Looks a little pricy to me.

Respectfully,

Sieger

third-person plural present active subjunctive of ērigō

No sooner did the Batavians begin to close with the enemy, to strike them with their shields, to disfigure their faces, and overthrowing the force on the plain to advance their line up the hill, than the other auxiliary cohorts joined with eager rivalry in cutting down all the nearest of the foe.

There were quite a number of 1939 Banners in this serial range issued directly to the Police. That being so, I can't think of a good reason why any policeman would inscribe a Latin word for "up" below the takedown lever. Ed, have you or Dwight seen this kind of marking before?

I'd sooner think it is the name of a previous owner!
