hello, I am a newbie to the forum. these are some pics of the DWM that my father in law had stored in his garage that was given to him by his father after world war II. thank you in advance for any information that anyone can help me with. the word GERMANY appears in the front along with the word SAFE and the word LOADED in english. I'm quessing that this is an exported pistol. more pics to follow.

Thanks, It came with two boxes of bullets that reads 7.65 m/m (30 cal.) both by Winchester one reads Luger full patch and the other soft point both are still unopened boxes. and they all came together in a green canvas bag along with 3 cartridges. more pics to follow. I'll post the pictures in the commercial thread. stupid question but, does that mean this is a commercial pistol?

If you are not otherwise into guns, you might seek out a friend that could assist you with some cleaning and oiling of this fine pistol. A garage isn't a particularly friendly place to store a firearm on a long-term basis, and this fine pistol is just starting to show that.

It's classified as a (Safe and Loaded Commercial). It is a 7.65 cal or 30 Luger. The serial#
91449 falls into the Stoeger (importer) contract. It was likely delivered to Stoeger, in 1922.
You have a beautiful family heirloom.

Art,
As others have indicated, you have a very nice collectable Luger. Just a few suggestions:
1. As recommended, clean and lubricate the gun to preserve its fine condition
2. The ammo boxes are collectable items also, so remove the rubber bands as they will deteriorate and stain the paper lables. Remove the string as well and wrap the boxes in plastic kitchen wrap to maintain their condtion.
3. Empty the ammo from the magazines so that the springs are not further stressed. Magazines are not made for long term storage.
4. Sell it to me

FNorm, yes you are correct there is a crown over N at the left receiver
Sieger, thank you for the tip. as you can probably tell I am new to this but I do have a freind who is into shot guns whom I could ask for help in cleaning and oiling and after I get off the forum he's my first call.
MFC, thank you for the information! this is the information that I was looking for.
Ron, thank you for the suggestions but I think I'm going to keep it for the grand kids as part of our family history.

Be very careful removing the left grip. It is easy to break off the tip that fits under the thumb safety.

Thanks to every one for all the information. this was interesting, in asking about lugers at a local gun shop. the guy behind the counter said that the lugers were once offered as a packaged deal with winchester bullets in a green canvas bag, which I have, is there any truth about this because I cannot find any information that would support that.

never heard that before, it is possible, but i have never heard this. Was it an older store with several older guys? As this word of mouth would have to ahve been passed down from person to person.

perhaps others have heard this story?

The person I spoke with was a gentleman in his 7o's. the gun shop (Turners) is no longer there so I have no way to contact this person to ask him how he got his information. On a seperate note, I have cleaned the pistol with the help of my freind who owns a shot gun and has experience in cleaning guns. taking apart the pistol was a little nerve racking but once we started to clean it and put it back I feel confident that I can do the next cleaning on my own. Thank you to every one who has contributed to the thread.
