Please Tell Me About This P08 Magazine
I was helping my grandmother clean out her house and I found this magazine and she gave it to me. My grandfather was a WWII Captain in a tank destroyer divison and saw combat in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He brought back 3 lugers. None from which I have personally seen. They were all given away..1 of which was absconded from me which I am pretty bitter about. So sadly I don't have a gun to use it with and I'd prefer not give it to the family member that took it from me. Anyways this magazine is the only wartime item I got from my grandfather who recently passed so I'd like to keep it as a remembrance of him except I know nothing about it. Is it valuable?

Jeff..Sorry to hear a story like that..You can pick your Friends but not your Family.
Your magazine is worth $50 with the broken bottom. The good news is that Gerald Tomeck can put another bottom on it. It would then be restored and correct..worth about $150. Hope this helps..

I found a similiar magazine on eBay from a luger called the "black widow". The stampings are the same but maybe I am missing something. It sold for $361

No, Ebay is where people who don't know where else to look often buy their stuff. If two such people happen to want the same item, they will bid it into the stratosphere.
If you are hoping for top dollar on your magazine, it is certainly worth a try. |

Yes, this would be considered a "Black Widow" magazine.

Blackonblack:
I think that what you are "missing" is that people pay top dollar for collectible items that are "as issued" and not messed with. Your magazine is severely disfigured and even if it were restored, it still would not be as originally issued. Sorry. Neil

blackonblack,
suggest you pm to forum member "G.T." for discussion on the repair / restoration of your fxo mag. and/or you could use the forum advanced search option and search for postings by member "G.T." ( not GT , needs the dots no space) and also select the subforum "Repairs, Restoration & Refinishing" and otherwise blank values in the search sounds like you may someday have a luger and seems it would be cool to use this mag in it - so perhaps would be good to have it also tuned for future usage as part of the broken base replacement this type of mag is generally regarded as one of best to use good luck in the quest Bill Last edited by lfid; 03-29-2012 at 02:27 AM.
